The winter solstice brings spring again

Last year, the winter solstice fell on Dec. 21; This year, the winter solstice also falls on December 21. The winter solstice has fallen on December 21 for two consecutive years, a very rare calendar phenomenon. It has been 124 years since this unusual calendar phenomenon last occurred in 1896 and 1897, according to statistics.

The winter Solstice is not only an important solar term among the 24 solar terms, but also a traditional Chinese folk festival for ancestor worship. There is a saying that "the winter solstice is as big as the year", which is called "xiaonian". In southern China, it is customary to worship ancestors and eat tangyuan during the winter solstice. In northern China, it is customary to eat dumplings on winter Solstice.
