Taiyuan University of Technology (TTUT) is a century-old university with profound history and distinctive features. It is located in Taiyuan, a national historical and cultural city with a history of more than 2,500 years. Its predecessor was Shanxi University Of Western Learning, one of the earliest three national universities in China, which was founded in 1902. In 1953, taiyuan Institute of Technology was established independently under the direct administration of the Ministry of Higher Education. In 1962, it was placed under the administration of Shanxi Province. 1984 It was renamed Taiyuan University of Technology. In 1997, TAIYUAN University of Technology merged with Shanxi Institute of Mining and Technology (founded in 1958) directly under the Ministry of Coal Industry to form Taiyuan University of Technology. In the same year, Taiyuan University of Technology was listed in the national "Project 211" key universities, opening a new chapter of reform and development. In 2017, THE university was selected into the National "Double First-class" Key construction university, ushering in a new period of development.
